OFFIS is devided into three research and development divisions where one of these divisions is called "Transportation".
It cooperates in projects funded by the European Union and the German Ministry of Technology with industrial partners in automotive, aviation, and traffic control, the telecommunication industry, the semiconductor industry, the production industry as well as the computer industry. Furthermore, the division cooperates with leading research institutes in Europe. Besides the cooperation in research projects OFFIS also offers consultation in the use of newest design and development tools for embedded systems.

IBM Rational provides enterprise solutions for real-time embedded applications development in the growing "pervasive computing" market. IBM Rational Rhapsody (UML-based application development platform) and Statemate MAGNUM (system engineering environment for hybrid systems specification and rapid prototyping) significantly compress software development cycles while improving product quality. These development platforms allow software and system engineers to graphically model the behavior and functionality of embedded systems, analyze and validate the system and automatically generate production quality code in a variety of languages. dSPACE GmbH
dSPACE systems enable manufacturers of controllers and electronic control units (ECUs) to reduce their development times and costs dramatically and noticeably increase their productivity. This is made possible by an optimum mixture of standard solutions for rapid control prototyping with dSPACE Prototyper, automatic production code generation with TargetLink, hardware-in-the-loop simulation with dSPACE Simulator and ECU calibration with the dSPACE Calibration System. Comprehensive services from on-site training to system engineering round off the dSPACE product portfolio.
