Combining Agile Development Processes with Model-Based Testing Approaches
In agile software development methods requirements evolve through adaptive planning and flexible response to change. Testing plays a central role in agile development projects. Test driven development (TDD) more and more becomes a widely adopted approach in agile projects. Model based testing (MBT) provides an efficient and effective approach to create automated test scripts with significantly decreased efforts, allowing continuous measurement of quality. MBT means using different kinds of models for designing artifacts to perform software testing or system testing. Models can be used to represent testing strategies and a test environment and test cases can be derived from such models. MBT enables to use model-based development for agile software development, in particular test-driven development. In this presentation, we will demonstrate how TDD – supported by MBT with Rational Rhapsody - can be leveraged in agile development projects.

Introduction to Model Based Testing with Rhapsody TestConductor
(Duration: 2 hours)
IBM® Rhapsody® TestConductor® is an add-on of IBM® Rhapsody® for testing of systems and software. It uses the OMG Testing Profile (which accomplishes the OMG UML and SysML) to enable modeling and visual specification of test architecture and test behavior. Key feature is built in traceability between requirements, design and tests by UML/SysML model elements and automatic generation of executable test code from modeled tests. Regarding software testing the tests can be executed on host or various target environments, including debugging on model or code level.
You will start with a simple model containing requirements and design and specify tests based on test scenarios to verify the system or software design meets the requirements. The tests will be executed and after successful execution the coverage of design elements and requirements will be assessed.
